Europa House

Putting co-operation and care for others is at the heart of our approach to school life

Ms Blueman,
Head of Europa House

Europa House is very proud of its tradition of helping others less fortunate than ourselves. Over the years we have raised money for Lepra, Great Ormond Street and Save the Children, as well as fundraising for Children In Need, Comic Relief and the refugee crisis.

This activity demonstrates the values which are at the heart of Europa House: co operation and care for others. Older pupils in the House have taken on the responsibility of becoming senior prefects, while younger students enthusiastically sign up to be Open Evening guides and to host visits for members of our community and profession. Pupils take part in extra curricular activities and represent the school in a range of sports. Every year we mount the Pen y Fan challenge to climb the highest mountain in the south of England, and we also hold the Bake Off and the plant sale to raise funds for charity. Europa House is very strongly represented in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award

Expectations in Europa House are high but it is very rare for them not to be met. Pupils take pride in their appearance and conduct.  Attendance has improved to the point where we are well above national averages. All of this is achieved through the hard work of pupils and the dedication and commitment of the tutor team and House team. Last but not least, Europa House knows we can always rely on the support of parents and carers. Our aim is to ensure that pupils have a secure, enjoyable and productive time as they move through SBL Academy.
